Tracing back through /var/log/tomcat7/catalina. "FAIL - Application at context path /cyclos could not be started". As before, everything else works as it should under Tomcat 7 but any attempt to start :8080/cyclos brings up exactly the same response in :8080/manager/ - i.e.

Run the following commands as a user with sudo privileges or root to update the packages index and install the OpenJDK 11 JDK package: sudo apt update sudo apt install openjdk-11-jdk. I would personally recommend Option 2 below. It is also the default Java development and runtime in Ubuntu 20.04. Unfortunately, the APT Repository on Ubuntu 16.04 does not include a version of the Java 7 JRE or JDK so we'll need to do some work to get this working. Although nothing more recent than PostgreSQL 9.3 and Tomcat 7 are available in the 14.04 repositories, these satisfy the system requirements specified in "cyclos-reference.pdf". At the time of writing, Java 11 is the latest long-term supported (LTS) version of Java. 4-systems/ ) and that solved the first problem. Some further digging turned up "How to Install OpenJDK 8 in Ubuntu 14.10, Ubuntu 14.04 & Ubuntu 12.04 Systems" (at. Although the Ubuntu version here was slightly more recent (14.04.5) I was still unable to find OpenJDK 8.

This guide focuses on installing Graylog on Ubuntu 18.04 / Ubuntu 16.04. Having got everything else working as it had been, I turned my attention back to Cyclos 4.7. Graylog is an open-source log management tool that helps you to collect, index and analyze any machine logs centrally. Nothing I tried would allow me to start :8080/cyclos/ at all (although, as on the other machine, everything else under Tomcat worked as expected).Įventually I decided to try 14.04 again, on the machine which had been running 16.04, replacing everything except /home/ with a fresh installation and restoring as many files as necessary in /etc/ from a backup. Eventually I managed to find a blog post that showed how libproj0 could be installed from a 15.04 repository (I can't remember which, but I'll have made a note somewhere). This provided OpenJDK 8 no version of PostgreSQL available there enabled me to satisfy the requirement for libproj0 (required by postgresql-9.*-postgis-2.*. Unable to find any was to instally OpenJDK 8 on Ubuntu 14.04, I decided to start again on a different machine with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 16.04. I though I had followed the instructions in "cyclos-reference.pdf" to the letter, but eventually noticed that I was using OpenJDK 7 (the most recent version available in any repository I could find) so I assumed that must be the problem. Everything else running under Tomcat7 worked exactly as expected.

The first column is the package name which is to be provided as argument for apt-get install. Nothing I changed made any difference, and each attempt to restart it had the same effect. The packages available for installation as well as already installed ones can be listed with the command. Originally I tried it on Ubuntu 14.04.3 and almost everything seemed to work up to the point of first running :8080/cyclos/ at which point the progress bar in the browser froze.
